Corn: Field to Fluff! 

This lesson takes students on a journey from "field to fluff," exploring a vital Kansas commodity: corn! All materials are provided for free by the Ellis County Farm Bureau. Students will get their hands dirty as they learn about germination, the different parts of the corn plant, and the process of harvesting. The lesson also covers the many uses of corn before culminating in a delicious treat, popped right in the classroom!

Details 

Activity One: Growing corn in the classroom! 

In grow pans provided by Ellis County Farm Bureau, students can experience growing corn sprouts in the classroom!

Activity Two: Germination & Harvesting

Through hands-on experience of germination, students will learn how the seed turns into a plant. Then they will learn how the plant is picked for harvest! 

Activity Three: Field to Fluff! Pop kernels of popcorn! 

Why do we grow corn? Pop in to learn about the great benefits of corn while enjoying a delicious snack!
